Why choose this course
This course is designed for people who will be undertaking the responsibility of Safety Officer at any Place of Public Entertainment Events. A generalised course designed to cover a variety of potential emergencies or events that could occur at such gatherings. Following the course the safety officer must be able to determine the safety of the public place before an event commences, and be in attendance during the event, identifying and responding to any safety matters that arise.
This is a nationally accredited course (22591VIC).
Course Content

Our course is designed to cover the role of the Place of Public Entertainment Safey Officer as defined by Building Regulations (2018). The role is to ensure:
- Operation of safety elements, equipment and systems
- Establishment and operation of evacuation procedures
- Safety of barriers and exits
- Control of the use of naked flame in theatrical productions
- Exclusion of the public from unsafe areas.
- The keeping, testing and storage of flammable material or explosive items and equipment in a safe manner
- The ignition of fireworks and the discharge of pistols or other shooting devices in a safe and responsible manner.
- The location and designation of passageways and exits
- The availability of public toilet facilities and the condition of those facilities

The Place of Public Entertainment Safety Officer does not fulfil the duties of crowd control or security officers at an event, nor do they replace the need for those roles at events where they are required.
The definition of Place of Public Entertainment is dictated by Building Regulations 2018, Part 14 and the course is as such structured in accordance with Building Regulations 2018.
FES delivers nationally recognised training and assessment on behalf of Fire Rescue Victoria (RTO 3067)
