What are the different type of fire extinguishers?
ABE Extinguishers are suitable for:
- A Class Fires – wood, paper, textiles.
- B Class Fires – flammable liquids, oils.
- E Class Fires – electrical fires, switchboard fires, electrical motors.
BE Extinguishers are suitable for:
- B Class Fires – flammable liquids, oils.
- E Class Fires – electrical fires, switchboards, electrical motors
CO2 extinguishers are suitable for:
- B Class Fires – flammable liquids, oils.
- E Class Fires – electrical fires, switchboards, electrical motors. Of note: CO2 is ideal for office areas with electrical equipment such as computers, server rooms/servers, etc.
Water Extinguishers are suitable for:
- Class A fires – wood, paper, textiles ONLY. Not to be used on Class B or Class E fires.
Foam Extinguishers are suitable for:
- A Class Fires – wood, paper, textiles
- B Class Fires – flammable liquids, oils ONLY. Not to be used on E Class Fires.
Fluorine Free Foam, also known as F3 Foam is fast becoming the go-to product for Class B Fires where a foam-based solution is used. Unlike traditional foams, Flamestop’s Eco Foam-F3 is free from the highly persistent organic pollutants PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonate) and PFOA (perfluorooctane acid) while maintaining a strong level of fire-fighting ability.
Wet Chemical extinguishers are suitable for:
- A Class Fires – wood, paper, textile
- F Class Fires – cooking oils, fats
